Declaration & Change of Degree, Major or Minor
Undergraduate Students
Students planning to declare or change their degree type, declare a major, change their major, or add an additional major are required to complete a Change of Major webform. The Change of Major webform is submitted to the appropriate advisors and dean's offices involved. If you need to declare a degree type or change of major, submit the major change petition to your dean's office at least one quarter prior to the quarter in which you filed to graduate.
Change of Major Within a College
Students planning to change from one major to another major within the same college must be approved by an advisor of the major they are leaving, endorsed by an advisor of the new proposed major, and requires the dean's office for approval.
Change of Major Accompanied by Change of College
Students planning to change to a major outside their college requires approval by an adviser of the new proposed major and requires dean's approval for admission to the new college. Additional steps may be required by their advisor.
Declaring Multiple Majors Within a College
To declare additional major(s) within the same college requires approval of the adviser of the majors involved and the Dean's office. You need consent of the department or committee in charge of your previous major, the consent of the department or committee in charge of your proposed new major and the approval of the dean of your college. A single degree is granted to students who graduate with multiple majors within the same college.
Students within the College of Biological Sciences or the College of Letters and Science: A student who completes all requirements for approved multiple majors in which one major normally leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree and another normally leads to a Bachelor of Science degree, will receive a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree.
Declaring Multiple Majors Between Colleges
To declare an additional major outside of your current college, submitted. Admission into multiple majors is subject to the approval of departments in charge of the majors involved and the dean's offices involved. You need the consent of the department or committee in charge of your major, the consent of the department or committee in charge of your proposed additional major and the approval of the dean of your current college as well as the endorsement of the dean of your additional college.
Declaring an Individual Major
Students with academic interests not accommodated by an established major have the opportunity to design an individual major. If you wish to undertake an individual major, request the appropriate forms from your dean’s office. Individual major program requirements are outlined in the General Catalog.
Declaring a Minor
If you are interested in two or more areas of study, you should consider completing one or more minor programs. You will find a complete list of the minors offered at UC Davis under Minor Programs in the General Catalog. If you want to have the completion of a minor certified on your transcript, you must complete the Minor Declaration webform and file it no later than the deadline for applying for graduation. Requirements for the minor must be met by the time of graduation.
School of Education
The Education minor offered by the School of Education requires approval by the School of Education and your dean's office. For more information about the education minor, see the Minor in Education or contact the School of Education.

Graduate Students
Graduate students must complete a Petition for Change of Graduate Major, Degree Objective, Multiple Graduate Majors, or Multiple Degree Objectives (GS301) form and secure the required approvals.
